This term we have been considering the School Value of Respect. In Assembly we considered a reading from Desmond Tutu which speaks about the interdependence we have on each other to learn about being human. Both the Primary and the Infants children responded beautifully to the reading and were able to stand and articulate their thoughts and understanding with confidence and ease. The Infants, when asked why this reading might be one of the readings under the value of Respect, had no difficulty in expressing the fact that to learn, you need to listen. Listening is a sign of respect. If we have no respect, it is difficult to listen and therefore difficult to learn.
