National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. NSS is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association. (ALIA)
Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
NSS 2018’s book was Hickory Dickory Dash written by Tony Wilson, illustrated by Laura Wood and published by Scholastic.
This year was the first year John Colet students participated in this wonderful event. Infants children were lucky enough to have Mrs Donald read to them, and our Primary children had the pleasure of Mrs McKendrick reading to them.
By the way, more than 8,255 schools, libraries, childcare centres, preschools, families and communities took part this year – that’s 1,062,230 adults and children!
