“Et florere quid incipit cantus natura est scriptor“. (Nature’s blossoming and singing) 2 metres sq. Pencil and watercolour on 12 birch wood panels. Hearty congratulations to one of our art teachers, Juli Allcorn, who is one of eight artists worldwide to be accepted for a Research Drawing Residency in Caylus, France from 23 March to 2 May.  She has also been asked to exhibit this 2 metre square pencil and watercolour work in Paris. Juli is also exhibiting 32 works in an upcoming solo exhibition at Ravenswood School in Gordon, Sydney. Works are for sale, and the exhibition is open to the public from 21 March – 12 April, week days between 9-3pm.   …

Art department news

Congratulations to Marta D (5K) on her Highly Commended entry into the ARTEX Armistice Exhibition at the Hornsby RSL Sub Branch.  Marta won $100 in prize money and her artwork was sold!  Well done also to Alannah W (5K) who entered with her delightful entry, Lest we Forget. Congratulations to art teacher Rachel Carroll on a most beautiful exhibition opening ‘Two Visions’ at Artarmon Galleries this week. Art teacher Julianne Ross Allcorn has won PEOPLES CHOICE  MOST POPULAR VOTE at the Mosman Art Prize 2018 with her artwork ‘Bush Gossips and Quiet Moments.’  Congratulations!   …

Northern Beaches Art Prize finalists

Congratulations to Jolan L, Samsara C, Caly H (all 6th class) and Sierra H (5CD) for being selected as finalists in the Northern Beaches Art Prize.  There was a huge entry with only around 100 artworks hung as finalists.  Well done to these students for entering in their own time and doing so well. The exhibition is on at Creative Space, 105 Abbott Road, North Curl Curl until 3 September. …

Taking part in art

These boats that 2nd class made will be part of an installation at Mosman Art Gallery that local children and adults have contributed to.The exhibition called THE BOAT; Project Another Country is the work of husband and wife team Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan who originated from the Philippines.They are internationally known for creating works that embrace the themes of home and family while drawing on their personal experiences of migrating to Australia from the Philippines.The children’s boats will be part of a large installation which opens at the gallery on 1 July and goes until about 10th September. I trust this finds you well.  Last week we finally had sufficient sunshine to hold the events that had been postponed in Term 1.  Here is a roundup of what has been and what is to come! Hot Cross Buns this may seem a dim and distant event, it raised over $300, a huge thank you to Manjula G for making it happen, to the admin staff who helped behind the scenes and the parents and children who helped get the buns out on the day!
