Book Week - image on https://www.johncolet.nsw.edu.au

We are asking the children to dress up as their favourite book character on Wednesday 22 August. We will have a parade for the whole school in the Garigal Quadrangle, beginning at 9am.
Parents and guests are invited to this event.
We have been talking with the children about choosing their book character carefully and how they can use clothes and objects found at home to dress up. We have also encouraged them to bring along the book to share on the day. We hope to see their creativity shine during this experience!

FIVER FOR A FARMER
As part of the Hay and Hampers national campaign for drought affected communities John Colet School is asking for donations of $5 for a farmer, on our Book Week costume day on Wednesday 22nd September.

CBCA AWARDS – The announcement of the winners of the CBCA awards occurs in time for Book Week. In Library lessons, the students have been talking about, reading and looking through the CBCA shortlist of books for 2018. They are excited to find out the winners in Book Week. If you are interested, the list can be found here: https://www.cbca.org.au/short-list-2018

PRC Concludes The Premier’s Reading Challenge finishes at midnight on 31 August. There is a new website for students to access that should be more user friendly. https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/studentExperience.html#/
I would really love EVERY John Colet student to complete the challenge this year. Please feel free to send the children to me in the library at lunch to help them enter their books. And don t hesitate to get in touch should you need any help. aslaven@johncolet.nsw.edu.au
