Spring growth

We have seen lots of Spring growth in the garden this week with the Daikon Radish seeds sown at the working bee now growing strong. These will be used as a green manure and will be turned into the soil by Garden Club attendees next term, before planting Summer crops. The shed has also been cleaned out, more seeds sown and preparations for the composting systems are underway. Semi-fanalists in Inter-school chess 2023

Five students from the JCS Senior Chess Club were selected to play at the Interschools Chess Semi Finals at the Ku-ring-gai Town Hall in August. The team played well and scored a good number of points. Unfortunately they did not receive enough points to move through to the finals. Rebecca L won top female player, winning five of her seven games. All the children demonstrated excellent manners and sportsmanship. More robotics classes in Term 4 2023

In Term 4, two classes on LEGO WeDo2.0 have been arranged to satisfy the demand from parents. The program on Monday is aimed at K-Y1 students who have very limited prior experience on building LEGO. Compared to the robotics class on Tuesday for Y1-Y2, the models constructed in this class will have simpler structures and fewer building steps. The LEGO Robotics and Coding Fusion Program on Thursday for Y3-Y5 students includes diversified robotics and coding projects on LEGO SPIKE Prime, LEGO Mindstorms EV3 and Scratch Video Game Programming. So the students could have opportunities to access different robotics equipment and programming apps to develop their knowledge and skills on robotics and coding. Organic gardening off to a great start

Thank you to the families who attended the garden working bee on Sunday, there were over 60 busy workers on the day and more than 18 cubic m of growing medium has now been added to the space! It is quite amazing how much has been achieved in just 5 weeks, which wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and support of the school community. There was a real buzz of enthusiasm in the air and a tangible demonstration of school values, as both adults and children worked together to construct the garden.
