Friday mornings are yoga and stretch class mornings.   All ages are welcome. All mats and props provided.  The class size is limited to 12 children. Shakespeare Club 2019 auditions this week

We had a very successful Shakespeare club last year and Miss Emanuel is looking forward to doing it all again in 2019!Auditions for Shakespeare Club 2019 will be held in the Music Room on Wednesday 6th February in 2 sessions 7:15am-8:15am OR 1pm-1:30pm.  For Year 5 and Year 6 students only.If your child would like to audition, please email your expression of interest to Miss Emanuel on: zemanuel@johncolet.nsw.edu.au as soon as possible.Children should prepare a short monologue (no longer than 1 minute) to be performed without a script to the best of their ability.Miss Emanuel will be looking for the following criteria: Strong, clear voices Lines learnt off by heart A good expressive connection with the text A committed …

Chess results

Congratulations to Eshaan H, Saurav H, Leo P, Victoria M and Siddhartha B who competed in the Semi finals of the Sydney Academy of Chess Interschool Challenge at Baulkham Hills North Public School recently. They came 7th overall out of 18 schools. Well done! …

Composting

The new location for the Garden Club is working well with new plants happily sprouting.The children are taking up a new initiative to process the School’s compostable food scraps. It is early days, but with a row of new composting bins they are learning all about the process of properly maintaining an active and sustainable composting system. Food scraps presently come daily from the children’s morning tea and from the school kitchen. We hope to be producing lovely rich soil to create new gardens in due course. Glen MillerTeacher …

Some newsy updates this week

Twice as long as any year before (1.5hours) with solos on Piano, Violin, Guitar, Electric Guitar, Ukelele, Cello, Oboe and Flute, our Instrumental Concert this week was a great show of developing talent!  There were also group performances by the Beginner Violins and the JC Ensemble, and all performers finished the night with a choir piece.  Well done students and a special thanks to Rosy Davidson and all our music teachers for coordinating the evening. On Friday both John Colet teams won their debates against St Luke’s.  The topic was ‘That large pets should be banned in cities’ and John Colet had both an affirmative and negative team.  Our debaters have made incredible progress with their debating skills and …
