Art 2023
Some of our art teachers run extra-curricular art lessons after school, in their own studios or online. For enquiries and session times, please contact the art department.
Chess 2023
Classes are held weekly by qualified tutors from the Sydney Academy of Chess. Lower 1st Chess will start in the second half of the year.
Timetable is as follows:
Beginner Chess – Wednesday Recess 10:30 – 11:00 (Lower 1st) Note: Starts in Term 3
Infants Chess – Wednesday Lunch 12:20-12:50 (Upper 1st and Second Class)
Primary Chess – Monday Afternoon 3:00-4:00 (3rd Class – 6th Class)
Senior Chess – Monday Afternoon 3:00-4:00 (by invitation only)

Fencing 2023
The Course is aimed at all ages from Upper 1st and older.
Beginners or more advanced Fencers are welcome.
All aspects of the sport will be taught including all safety points, grip, stance positions, attack and defensive moves.
The benefits from Fencing are to improve reflex coordination, quick thinking and concentration. Fencing is a very enjoyable, safe and tactical sport.

At lunch times. children attend straight after their lunch.

French Club 2023

Garden Club 2023
Garden Club is currently dormant and is waiting to sprout again in 2023.
Our co-ordinator Felicity has moved away from Sydney and we wish her well. We are currently exploring Garden Club options.
German Club 2023
German classes will be held every Monday for year 3 and 4 and every Thursday for year 5 and 6 both from 7:15 – 8:00 am.
The German Club classes offer an opportunity for children to learn basic German language. In the classes the children are exposed to listening, reading, comprehending and speaking in German.
The children learn the alphabet, numbers, colours, greetings, farewells, introductions, days of the week and more. During the lessons the children are playing games, listening to songs, watching little German YouTube videos, completing worksheets, crosswords or word-searches to get immersed in the German language.

Individual Music Lessons 2023
Private instrumental lessons are offered to students from U1st – 6th classes. These are held in the Music Centre during school hours by our highly qualified and experienced music teachers.
Instruments: Piano, Violin, Flute, Guitar.

JCS Chamber Ensemble 2023
Our instrumental music ensemble will be held on Mondays 7.45 – 8.30am, with the first rehearsal on: Monday 6th January

Shakespeare Club 2023
Shakespeare Drama Club will be commencing from Week 5 this term. Auditions will be held in Week 3. The club will be run by Ms Claire Lilla, via audition for Years 5 & 6 only. Students will be required to perform a short Shakespeare Monologue (one they have already performed is fine) or a short poem from memory.
Ms Lilla will be looking for the following criteria:
- Clear diction and strong vocal projection
- Emotive expression of textual content via facial expression, gesture and intonation
- Dedication to excellence in the dramatic arts
- Positive behavioural conduct
The aim of the club is to perform at various events including: Sydney Eisteddfod; the State Shakespeare Festival; School Open Day. Students must be available on a Saturday and/or Sunday for these performances on the dates to be announced (usually 2-3 Sundays and/or Saturdays).
Sewing Club 2022
Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtimes, after lunch service, in the library.
Open to 6th class students
Fee: $50 to cover material costs

Sewing classes will start after Swimming Carnival day, however Mrs Donald will see individual students earlier to get them started on their projects.
Yoga, Stretch and Meditation for kids
Thursday mornings 7.45 – 8.15am
First lesson TBC as our yoga teacher is on leave for the first part of Term 1
MacLaren Hall.
All ages are welcome.
All mats and props will be provided.
Class size is limited to 12 children.
Term 1 costs: $135 per child TBC. Sibling discounts available. FREE trial for new students.
