Deputy Head of School’s Comment

This term we are focusing on the value of Stillness. This value underpins all of the other school values and is reflected in the regular practice of the pause. This week in Philosophy, all the children studied a story from the great Hindu epic The Mahabaratta. The story is about a crow and a swan. The crow is keen to demonstrate his skill in flight, however his pride soon leaves him exhausted, and he plummets into the ocean. He is rescued by the swan who only knows one kind of flight which is simple, steady and graceful. There is much to the story, as the children have discovered and much to be learnt about Stillness.
