Mrs Marissa Nerwich, astronomer and astronomy guide at the Sydney Observatory, talked to 5th classes as part of their study of Earth and Space.
They heard about some of the methods by which modern and ancient astronomers have found out about our solar system, for example, how they calculate distances between planets and stars. They also found out about whether life is possible on other planets in our solar system and beyond, about the Big Bang and about current missions in space. The children made the most of the opportunity to put their questions to an expert!
Year 5 have also finished their Moon Buggies and have successfully tested them on a rough moon surface.
