On Monday 23rd April, boys and girls from 6th class visited the Gallipoli Memorial Club as finalists in the Gallipoli Art Prize 2012. The children had been working hard on their artwork, photographed below, since the beginning of the year and it was a great pivilege to be hung amongst 39 other finalists, all of whom produced paintings portraying their response to the events of Gallipoli.
The children’s artwork was very much admired as they were the only school to have entered the competition.
Our Head Girl Annika Hansson was interviewed by the ABC and many of the students were photographed for a variety of newspapers and magazines.
The winner of the competition, Geoff Harvey, produced a very moving piece entitled “Trench Internment” portraying rusting military artifacts worked into an aged canvas.
