It is with great pleasure that I write this first welcome note from the office of the Headmaster at John Colet School. My family and I arrived safely just before Christmas and we have been busy settling back into Sydney. I have had the pleasure in the last few weeks of touring the school and meeting many of the staff (and our resident family of possums). Everyone has been of great assistance and help and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them, in particular Philip Wolfers and Mary McKendrick, for making me feel so welcome. The success of a school is all in relation to the people, their relationships and the support that they provide each other. John Colet has such a committed and passionate supporting community with whom I am truly honoured to be able to serve alongside.
The start of the school year is only days away and I am very much looking forward to meeting all our pupils and their families. I will be out and about as much as possible as I endeavour to meet as many of you personally as I can. Please do not hesitate to say hello if you see me. Part of learning is about taking risks, making mistakes and learning from them, so if you hear me mispronouncing a name feel free to correct me, I promise I will be thankful.
I wish you an engaging, fulfilling and rewarding year ahead.
