Head of School’s Comment

After much needed rain resulted in our Walkathon being cancelled a few weeks ago, we were treated to fabulous weather for our first community event of the year today. A special thank you to the P&F for their organisation of this event and the many  parents who were able to support us on the day. If you were unable to attend, fear not, we have many events and celebrations throughout the year which your help or just support in attending would be greatly appreciated. Some of our community events this year include Open Day, Shakespeare Festivals, P&F Bush Dance, Grandparents Morning and Science Week, just to name a few. Furthermore, there are many opportunities to contribute to our school as a reading parent or on special days, such as the fabulous Greek Day Year 4 had this week.
We have been exploring with the children the value of Respect this term, and more recently whether our actions unify. Do our actions bind rather than separate? How better could all of our lives be if we were pulling in the same direction? How can we exercise paying it forward   (an expression for describing the beneficiary of a good deed repaying it to others instead of to the original benefactor). Collective and community events, whether inside or outside school are wonderful occasions to come together and give of oneself. It is a crucial part of any successful culture and is also of great benefit to the individual and their sense of self within society.
Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day Anon.
