Thank you to those parents and students who were able to assist in the our working bee last Sunday. There was some general painting touch ups, maintenance and cleaning along with some much needed gardening and fuel reduction in our bush area. The school is looking in great shape for our Open Day this weekend.
I was extremely impressed as I watched the rehearsal for Open Day this week. The children have been working very hard and it is a wonderful opportunity for them to share and for our families to see the outstanding results of our Music program. Choir is one of the key parts of our curriculum and has wide ranging benefits for our students. Group singing has a far reaching history and can be seen throughout all cultures in the world. It is a bonding experience that both soothes the nerves and elevates the spirits. The growing research in neuroscience shows that it makes us happier, healthier, smarter and more creative. Singing develops skills in memory, attention, listening, mathematics and literacy. It opens up the children to poetry and often themes of deep complexity and emotions. It is an experience they will carry with them throughout their lives.
I look forward to watching these truly wonderful performances with you on our Open Day.
