It has been brilliant seeing all the smiling faces arriving at school this week and wonderful to welcome many new faces too! It has felt like a bit of a celebration after a quiet summer break for many. We are very much looking forward to our Lower 1st students beginning their first full week of school next week.
The Core Values of our school are Stillness, Truthfulness, Courage, Service, and Respect. With our students and staff, we work through these values in all that we do throughout the year. However, we do select a Value to concentrate on each Term, along with an aspect of that Value each week. This Term we will be focussing on our Value of Service and in particular giving our full attention to whatever is before us. We also do spend some time in these first few weeks going over routines, expectations, and explanations of some of our unique features, such as our practice of pausing during the day. New parents joining our school may also have questions at the start of the year and I encourage you to let your child’s class teacher know of any school-related queries or reach out to your child’s Class Parent to connect socially.
We are yet to receive any further update that significantly impacts the current restrictions that are in place for schools in NSW. Unfortunately, this does mean that the Gathering on the Garigal, scheduled for the 19th February, will not be taking place. We hope to hold this or something similar later in the year. In the meantime, we are working closely with our fantastic Parents and Friends Association to look at other ways we can bring our community together, particularly our new families.
I wish you and your family all the very best for 2021.
