I wish everyone a very happy and restful break. We had a long first term with several highlights, such as the swimming carnival and the infants demonstration lesson; the walkathon; Easter and Anzac assemblies. All went off very well and continued the regular pulse of the life of the school. Congratulations and thanks to all involved.
One especially pleasing event was the triumph of the 3rd and 4th class girls PISA team in the inter-school T-ball competition. Well done girls and their coaches on a well-deserved win.
Next term the big event is the Open Day and Fair, on Sunday 26th May. This is a major opportunity for the children to showcase their singing, recitation and classwork and for the school to open its arms to the wider community. The Art Show runs concurrently, with a preview on Thursday 23rd, and the formal opening on Friday 24th May.
Another highlight of term 2 is the Annual Sanskrit Competition. The finals are on Thursday 6th June. This event is delightful and shows the children and teachers commitment to this beautiful subject. Sanskrit gives them a terrific grounding in the basic rules of language, gives them access to another culture, and can help the children make and hear crisp, clean vowel and consonant sounds. All this can give them a firm basis for powerful, effective communication.
