Growing our own biomes

IMG 5561 smaller

As part of our unit on Rainforests, we are looking at plants and their life cycles. This week we have split open some seeds and examined them under a magnifying lens. We were amazed to learn that each seed comes with its very own food store called the cotyledon. The seed is covered by a hard shell which protects the embryo whilst it is growing.

We have also planted our very own terrariums with plants kindly donated by staff and parents. The terrariums are in plastic bottles and we are hoping that the conditions will mimic the humid biome of the Amazon!
