JCS 6th class are finalists in Gallipoli Art Prize

Congratulations to our 6th class students who are finalists in this year’s Gallipoli Art Prize.  All the finalists’ artworks are on display from 21st April – 29th April (not including ANZAC day), at the Gallipoli Memorial Club, level 2, 12 Loftus Street, Sydney, so do try to get into the city and see them during the holiday.

The students’ acrylic mixed media artwork is called Woven Connections, and is inspired by the designs found on Turkish carpets.  The silhouettes of the ships remind us of the landings and evacuations at Gallipoli, while the colour red represents the sacrifice of all.

Our 6th class students have completed an artwork for the award, under the guidance of art teacher Juli Allcorn, for the past 10 years, and each year they have been hung as finalists.  We are the only school to take part in this prestigious art prize.  Click here to see the finalists artworks from last year, including JCS entry which now hangs in Headmaster’s office.

Congratulations 6th class!
