John Colet School welcomes new Head

John Colet School starts the 2016 school year with a new Headmaster.

Mr Julian Wilcock returns to the Northern Beaches, where he grew up, to head the multi-faith, coeducational independent primary school in Belrose.

John Colet School is a truly holistic school and has shown consistently that this approach ensures an excellent educational experience for students, he said.

Learning how to learn, learning about ourselves and how we interact with others and the wider world is fundamental to our development and has a direct link to academic success. I am passionate about the possibilities that a great primary education can bring and the impact it can have on lifelong learning.

For the past ten years Mr Wilcock taught in Dubai where he was part of the founding team, and Head of School, of an International Baccalaureate school.   Before that, he taught in Singapore for five years, where he first experienced the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.

John Colet School has a refreshing international perspective and a purposeful ethos of multi-cultural and multi-faith understanding.

Mrs Mary McKendrick, who has been Head of School since Mr Mane retired earlier this year, will remain at John Colet, the school she co-founded 30 years ago, as Primary Mistress.  Co-founder Mrs Judith Donald will also continue in her role as Infants Mistress.

The Board Chairman, Philip Wolfers, said Mr Wilcock  will bring to John Colet School great experience, skill and love of education.

“We eagerly anticipate the fresh energy, intelligence and warm leadership he embodies.”
