On the vegetarian lunch menu this week…

One of the many things we need to constantly be reminded of is The Balanced Diet . This term does not mean purity, abstinence or even hard work. It simply means to respect your choices and create a lifestyle that suits your needs.
We teach Respect, Care and Courage in our school and all of these things relate to many subjects, including diet. We show the courage to care for our bodies and respect those who help us maintain this.
As many of you are aware, we write the menu to suit the children’s interpretation of what they desire whilst keeping nutrition a main driving concern.
No foods should be restricted (other than allergy foods) from a child’s diet. What we need to stay focused on is restricting quantities of high calorific foods, watching the times we eat and the overall weekly intakes of fruits, nuts, breads/cereals, vegetables and meats/vegetable proteins that we need to sustain energy and wellbeing in our children.
