Organic gardening off to a great start

Thank you to the families who attended the garden working bee on Sunday, there were over 60 busy workers on the day and more than 18 cubic m of growing medium has now been added to the space! It is quite amazing how much has been achieved in just 5 weeks, which wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and support of the school community.
There was a real buzz of enthusiasm in the air and a tangible demonstration of school values, as both adults and children worked together to construct the garden.
We discussed the importance of soil, shed shelving and the Subpod composting system were constructed, the 6 raised beds were filled with many different layers of materials using the Hugelkultur technique, and the food forest is now ready for planting.
All children actively participated, including helping the adults, making thank you cards for local businesses who have supported the garden, and by decorating signage.
We hope to do it all again soon.
Garden Club bookings for next term are now open but spaces are limited so get in quick.
