School garden starting to bloom.

John Colet School would like to say a special Thank You to Alex D for all she has done to set up the Garden Club at school. She has put many hours into planning and implementing an organised structure so that the children can plant veggies and lovely flowers for the school. Also thank you to her husband Steve, and Zander and Yasmin for helping to care for the garden during the holidays and to all those who took part in the working bee.
The garden club is a great success and we encourage all the children to give it a try and help be part of our school community garden. It’s great fun and the children learn a lot about planting and different plants. If you haven’t seen the garden yet, go and take a look behind the kitchen at all the wonderful things growing. Watch out for sunflowers coming soon!  The school has been awarded a grant of $4500 to help towards improving the health and nutrition and sport in the school, so we will be using the money to buy playtime equipment, plants and tools for the Garden Club and special bins to compost our scraps from lunch.
