The wide interests of John Colet students…

Congratulations to Eugenia C (6th S) who did extremely well in her grade 5 (RAD syllabus) and intermediate foundation (vocational grade) ballet exams recently.   Well done Eugenia!

Congratulations to Sophia W, Hamish M, Henry B and Sebastian P who recently took part in a ‘pop up’ art exhibition in Woolloomoolo.  The theme was Flora, Fauna, Fish and Faces and was on at Studio W, 6 Bourke Street.  Organiser and art teacher Juli Allcorn said 84 paintings from students and established artists were on display, 24 were not for sale but 14 sold and 3 commissions taken. She is keen to organise a similar art showing again next year. Stay tuned!

Hamish M (6th S) won gold (first in his division) at the pan pacific jujitsu championship recently. There were competitors from all over Australia as well as Indonesia and New Zealand. He is only a white belt as he has only been learning for 5 months so won against much more experienced kids, as it was an open (all belts) age and weight based division.  Well done Hamish!

Congratulations to Scout H (6th S) who came second in her age group in the Warringah Young Writers awards recently.

Lone B (6th K) has been selected and signed up for the Women’s 1 National Premier League for soccer. The W1NPL is the top level of football in NSW and she will be playing for the North Shore Mariners. Congratulations Lone!

Roxana S (6th K) has been training in Tae kwan Do  for 7 years, starting before her 5th birthday. She trains very diligently three times a week for up to two and a half hours a session and often attends camps over the weekends and holidays.
She passed her black belt grading last Sunday. In addition to demonstrating various patterns and a fitness test she had to spar with others including one scenario where she was attacked by five people in quick succession both with and without weapons. She also had to fight off two attackers at once. Additionally she had to break five planks of wood with different kicks and also two bricks!
Congratulations Roxana on achieving your black belt.  You are a champion!
